I got the opportunity to visit the Camp & Furnace gallery in Liverpool today, where my work is currently being exhibited. If you are in the area I strongly recommend a visit in support of the great work that TOMS do. To find out more about the exhibition and TOMS' charity work click here.

Art Of Giving

Last week I was asked by TOMS to create a unique pair of shoes and eyewear for their touring Art Of Giving exhibition, to be hosted at the Camp & Furnace (my personal favourite) gallery in Liverpool. At first I was daunted by the tight deadline and the thought that anything I did to the blank products would significantly decrease their value, but I was very honoured to be part of their charitable pursuits. My designs will be exhibited along side a piece of my work and will be auctioned off for the benefit of a local charity throughout the course of the exhibition. Unfortunately I couldn't make it to the opening night so I will post photos of my work in-situ very soon. If you are in the Liverpool area, the work will be exhibited until 21st November.

It'll Never Work.

Some of my work is currently up in the very lovely Nexus Art CafĂ© for their exhibition entitled 'It'll Never Work' which is running in conjunction with the Manchester Science Festival. The launch night for the exhibition is on the 20th of September and will be open to the public until the 18th of November. Go see it if you're in the area.

No Doubt.

I recently entered a Talenhouse competition to design a logo for the band No Doubt. My design is heavily inspired by my recent trip to Dubai and is a step away from the work I usually produce, due to the requirements of a logo. Though I don't agree with the voting system for the public choice side of competitions like these I had some success earlier in the year with their Secret 7" competition, being chosen by both Florence and the Machine and CSS themselves. I can only hope No Doubt do the same...

In Dubai.

I have just come back from a couple of weeks trip to Dubai. Im not too impressed by tall buildings but there were a few nice animals at the zoo. I need to do some work now.

08 July 2012

It's been a hectic few weeks and I have been pretty rubbish at making new work and keeping my progress updated on here but I am slowly getting back into it and will be updating my shop, website and this blog with new work by the end of the week. I promise.

It was the private view for our degree show last night. It was nice to see everyone's efforts on show after a year of very hard work. Above are a few pictures of my work on display.

Drawings in motion.

A sample of things to come.

Cult fiction.

My time at University is rapidly coming to an end and so my final project has begun. Bring on the most stressful weeks of my life!

As a group we were set the challenge of creating a portrait, our subject being an allocated member from the class, above is my interpretation of Dawn. Others, including one of me, can be seen here.

Anatomical amulets at the Cupola.

Today I delivered two new pieces of work to the Cupola gallery in Sheffield for their 'Miniatures' exhibition. The exhibition consists of a collection of works, all smaller than a £20 note. I created two new amulets specifically for the exhibition, one a conjoined foetus and the other a miniature unicorn skull- both cast in wax (it was probably not the best time to be experimenting with wax casting so close to the end of year University deadlines, but I do like to make life difficult for myself). The exhibition runs from 16th March until 22nd April.

05 March 2012

The 'Curious Pursuits' exhibition at The Portico has come to an end, hopefully the next exhibition I am a part of will be as pleasant an experience. Speaking of which my work will feature in and exhibition of 'miniatures' at the Cupola gallery in Sheffield as of 16th March. More info to come soon.

12 February 2012

I have just received two doses of very good news regarding a two certain competitions I entered recently. Though I'm not allowed to tell anyone about it until April, I don't think it would take a genius to work out what they are, based on recent posts.

Curious Pursuits.

Last night was the opening preview for the Curious Pursuits exhibition at the Portico Library and Gallery in Manchester. The library itself is an amazing space and it was brimming with guests and I was also lucky enough to have my work presented in a beautiful antique cabinet. Furthermore my featured piece of work 'Legless Anatomy' got a mention in this lovely write up in the exhibition catalogue by the curators of the exhibition Porter and Jenkinson which you can read here. More images of the night can be viewed here and on the Porter & Jenkinson facebook page. The exhibition continues until February 29th.
